About the Author

Gary Rosato has taught all styles of piano for over twenty five years. He received a B.A. from Rutgers University and an M.A.T. in Music Education from Monmouth University in New Jersey. Rosato studied under Dr. Ralph D. Lambert, a recognized authority on music education. Mr. Rosato also studied with Tommy Tucker, bandleader and educator. Both teachers served as inspirations in shaping Rosato’s diverse areas of musical expression.

Rosato has taught instrumental music at the middle school level, where he designed and implemented a Gifted and Talented Music Program, producing trophy winning bands. He has also composed and arranged for high school and college bands.

Rosato gained expertise as Director of Group Piano and Jazz Improvisation at Brookdale Community College’s Summer Arts Program in Lincroft, NJ. At Brookdale he taught improvisation, composition, theory, accompaniment, interpretation, performance skills, and composed for, arranged and conducted group piano concerts and woodwind/piano ensembles. Also, he performed solo piano entertainment every Saturday evening for eight years at the Casanova Restaurant in Jackson, NJ.

Gary Rosato is producing four Uplifting Piano Solo CDs: Stargazing, Rising to the Occasion, Gifts by Candlelight and Perfect Timing. Also, in addition to the “Let’s Enjoy Piano” method, he has authored an innovative “Quick Reference Guide” for Lead Sheet Playing ... “Whimsical Word Paintings” (a variety of comical and imaginitive poems) and ... is working on a new book, “Shapes on the Keyboard”.

Rosato was Director of Instrumental Music, Musical Director for Stage Productions and taught History of Rock, Jazz, and Broadway at Washington Park School in Totowa, NJ. In addition, he instructed Group Piano as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Theatre and Music at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ, and was a Music Specialist at the Ranney School's Summer Program in Tinton Falls, NJ. He is currently teaching piano privately, as well as being a Group Piano Instructor in the Community Education Department at Ocean County College in Toms River, NJ.
